The consultation on data sharing has now closed. I am very pleased that we received over 250 responses and comments and I would like to thank you for taking the time to tell us what you thought.
This consultation was about proposals for new laws, called regulations, to create secure accredited safe havens to hold data which might potentially identify individuals and to place strong controls around the release of that data by the HSCIC and accredited safe havens. This consultation also included proposals to allow NHS and social care case managers to have access, under certain limited circumstances, to confidential personal information about those for whom they are responsible for arranging health or care services.
We will be considering all the responses and, taking onto account what we heard, we will be finalising the regulations over the next few weeks.
We will publish a summary of what we heard and I expect this will be in the Autumn.
